The Swedish gravediggers once again treat us to a superb example of the classic Swedish death metal school. The steady mid-tempo pace picks up speed at times, while elsewhere we are treated to the darkness and atmosphere of slower riffs. And how could we do without excellent solos? They are present and accounted for. The consistency — and yet the distinctiveness — of every track is a pleasure. As for the sound quality, there is only one thing to say: "Made in Abyss!" by the Tagtgren brothers, and as you know, Peter has since stepped back from active production work, limiting himself to bands that truly deserve it. The only thing fans might complain about is nine songs clocking in at just under 39 minutes. But should such seasoned musicians pad things out beyond what the material calls for? No — sometimes less is more.
