As soon as I got the OVERGRAVEN disc in my hands, I initially thought it was just another weak promo (cheap packaging, average print quality). But I was wrong in my judgment — as it turned out, the release proved to be quite interesting and, surprisingly, musically diverse. In essence, the music is a blend of death metal, thrash, and a dose of heavy metal, all lightly seasoned with progressive elements. The use of female vocals on the album was a real treat, and more importantly, they're good and well-suited to the band's music. As for the compositions themselves, I'll note that nearly all the tracks are lightly "spiced" with juicy solos and some rhythm changes characteristic of progressive metal. The last track, "Let Me Die," was especially impressive — performed in a heavy/melodic metal vein, it's melodic and mostly sung in two voices (a clean, powerful male voice and a beautiful female one), with screams and growls used only in certain passages.

The recording itself raises no complaints — everything is laid down properly. It may sound slightly muffled, but that's forgivable and could simply be the limitations of a promo recording.

I recommend this release to all metal fans — it's a solid and far from sedative product!
