This remarkable American power metal band has been around for some twenty years now. Eight full-length albums have been released, yet the group has never quite reached for the stars. Perhaps the ninth studio effort will manage to change the current state of affairs.
Let's examine what JAG PANZER are lacking in order to ascend to the metal Olympus. There are no complaints about their playing technique whatsoever — only compliments. The song structures are far from simplistic either. Add to that excellent solos and vocals. But even after five listens, the band just doesn't stick. There's a lack of emotionality and that certain something that would breathe life into technically impeccable music. That, in my view, is precisely the reason they haven't amassed an army of fans.
