A metal salad — that's how I would characterize the work of German experimenters KNORKATOR. Hardcore beets, industrial potatoes, symphonic cucumbers, and pea-flavored lyricism — all the ingredients are in place. And what do you need for a great-tasting salad? That's right — the correct proportions! And KNORKATOR nailed that one hundred percent. Every song is a complete surprise for the listener. Who could predict that against the backdrop of the industrial rhythms of Du bist so still and croaking vocals, a chorus with a female choir would emerge? And what about the mocking Wir werden alle sterben, where alongside rap-like verses there are three versions of the chorus — a solo performance by Stumpen, a choral rendition, and... a version performed by a charming child's voice? And you certainly don't expect to hear a heartfelt ballad after that, with the "ordinary" title www.einliebeslied.com and a lyrical atmosphere of Chinese motifs. The album concludes with a beautiful instrumental in a Morricone-meets-Therion style on an electronic foundation. I won't even attempt to analyze the song lyrics (due to my lack of German), but judging by the booklet, which is teeming with battered old men and crazed suicidal puppies (see the video for Wir werden alle), the wild imagination of these talented Germans ran equally rampant here.

I won't reveal all the secrets awaiting the listener on this album — you simply have to hear it. And I advise you to put away all skeptical thoughts about a shortage of ideas in the metal field and enjoy the music of KNORKATOR, who, I'm sure, will surprise us more than once.
