QUEEN

This is not a QUEEN DVD — it's a DVD that tells the story of this great band. Friends, journalists, and producers do the narrating. There are absolutely unique interviews, for example with radio station staff who recount the first time QUEEN's music appeared on the air. Managers recall the early '70s, when Freddie, Brian, John, and Roger were just beginning their creative journey together. The filmmakers deliberately excluded music from the film. There's a barely discernible background, but QUEEN's music does not play in the film, which only indicates that the disc is aimed at those who are already familiar with the band's work, have listened to all the albums, and watched the videos. The disc includes a small quiz and a complete discography, encompassing official albums and singles as well as bootlegs. The main drawback is its overly narrow focus — anyone could buy this DVD by mistake, including someone who is only about to discover this great band's music. In that case, the film will seem completely uninteresting, but for fans it's a genuine gift! One last thing worth noting — the subtitles are certainly a great help, but they cover no more than half of what people say in the film, so for a truly comfortable viewing experience and a sense of informational completeness, one should carefully listen to the English dialogue and form impressions based on that.
