Well then... A compilation of Italian underground bands oriented toward black and death metal (including brutal). The material is mostly even (in terms of the musicians' professionalism). As for the sound quality, that is also understandable — the tracks were sourced from both CDs and cassettes. There is also a live track from a band with a "true" death metal name — ENDLESS PAIN — who use pots and pans instead of drums. All the other bands play standard music within their respective styles, and it is hard to single anyone out... except for a couple of acts that seriously clicked with me. MOURN IN SILENCE play melodic death, but far from the beaten path, with black metal elements and keyboard passages. Interesting music that deserves a second listen. Gothic/black with beautiful (though inexpressive) female vocals and clean male backing vocals, decent melodies, and keyboard seasoning appears on the setlist under the banner of LIFEND. On top of that, the label behind this compilation has no objection if I make a fortune selling "A Place In Hell" (with one condition: sell the discs for no more than 4 euros each). Anyone want to get rich?
