To be honest, I approached the third full-length from the Austrian symphonic metallers with a certain degree of skepticism. Previously heard snippets of the band's earlier work, as well as the music video for the track "Lost," hadn't left anything particularly memorable. However, right before recording the album, the guys replaced their vocalist — Nicole Bogner departed, and Melissa Ferlaak came in as her replacement, having already made a name for herself in Aesma Daeva, a formation widely known in symphonic-darkwave circles. Well, I can't say whether the change of vocalist was the deciding factor, or whether I simply listened to this work more attentively than the previous ones, but the fact remains: I liked "Trinity." Musically, this is a typical representative of symphonic power metal. Excellent arrangements, airy keyboards, and guitars from Wolfgang Koch that are by no means relegated to the background. The melodicism is very much on par, and roughly half the album could be called hits. Two vocal lines — male and female — and it was a pleasant surprise that the majority of parts are performed not by Melissa's operatic soprano but by the quite engaging clean vocals of Mario Plank. It's also worth noting that while the mastering was done at the famous Finnvox Studios, the mixing and recording took place at Dreamscape Studio under the direction of Jan Vacik, who together with Hans Walter also recorded all the orchestral arrangements that play a far from insignificant role in shaping the atmosphere. The result is an excellent symphonic metal album whose melodicism and beauty are capable of appealing to a wide range of listeners.
