After a lengthy absence, Swedish death metallers VOMITORY have dropped a bloody slab of meat on the shelves. And you can draw that conclusion just by flipping through the booklet. It is quite picturesque: a sort of maniac's diary documenting his deeds — severed limbs, pulled-out teeth, smashed heads, simple tools of the trade, and an ocean of blood, as one would expect.

From the very first seconds, a wall of sonic aggression crashes down on us, with a fairly dense, though uncomplicated, rhythm section. The vocals don't treat us to much variety either — all 10 tracks are accompanied by the same growling, delivered in the old-school Swedish death manner, without any embellishments or variations. Occasional lead guitar runs add some diversity, but not for long. In a word, it's Swedish death — no other way to put it; good, wholesome Swedish death — spirited and rollicking.

Everything is solid and there are even some decent ideas, but overall this album is strictly for genre enthusiasts as a nice addition to their collection; everyone else can safely skip it.
