The reissue of the debut album from these Swedish progressive metallers was definitely not done in vain -- that was roughly the thought that came to me after listening to this disc.
Due to the rather complex nature of its material, The Window Purpose won't work as background music for some everyday activity, but rather lends itself to attentive listening, and when consumed this way, it will deliver quite a few pleasant moments for progressive metal fans. Well-executed emotional vocals (a touch too high-pitched in my opinion), decent riffs and melodic solos, effective use of keyboards, and occasional touches of growling and female vocals make this release, while not outstanding, a perfectly welcome addition to the collection of any progressive metal fan or simply a metalhead who prefers diverse, not overly heavy music.
