After a decade of silence, ANTHRAX are back. The New York thrash legends have announced their twelfth studio album, 'Cursum Perficio', due September 18, 2026 via Megaforce in North America and Nuclear Blast in Europe. The title is Latin for "I complete my journey" — a phrase that carries considerable weight given the decade-long road that led here.

The band released the lead single 'It's For The Kids' on May 15, alongside a music video that pays homage to the aesthetic of their 1987 "Madhouse" clip, with fan participation filmed in Pennsylvania. The track has been described as a "classic ANTHRAX ripper": buzzsaw riffs, explosive drumming, and a hook designed to shatter a live room.

Guitarist Scott Ian called the recording process something close to a rebirth: "When we started working on the record, we were just happy to be in a room together. It was so exciting that it was like being reborn in a way." The excitement was apparently contagious — Ian has said "eight people have heard this fucking album" and he "can't wait for people to hear it."

Bassist Frank Bello was characteristically direct about the album's weight: "It's so heavy. Some parts are really hard to play — really hard to play, which I'm happy to say." He also singled out vocalist Joey Belladonna as delivering career-best performances.

'Cursum Perficio' was recorded at Dave Grohl's Studio 606 in Northridge, California, produced by longtime collaborator Jay Ruston (also behind 'Worship Music' and 'For All Kings'). The full lineup remains unchanged: Ian and Jonathan Donais on guitars, Bello on bass, Charlie Benante on drums, and Belladonna on vocals.

The complete tracklist:

  1. Persistence Of Memory
  2. The Long Goodbye
  3. It's For The Kids
  4. Everybody's Got A Plan
  5. The Edge Of Perfection
  6. Infectious
  7. NYC93
  8. Cursum Perficio
  9. T.O.M.B
  10. Watch It Go
  11. My Victory

ANTHRAX performed 'It's For The Kids' live for the first time on May 26 in Sofia, Bulgaria, supporting IRON MAIDEN on their current world tour. The band are also confirmed for HELLFEST on June 20 in Clisson, France.
