SQUID PISSER — the chaotic noise-grind project led by GWAR guitarist Tommy Meehan (a.k.a. Grodius Maximus / Baxter Yogurt) — will release a new "full-length EP" titled "Throat Slave" on August 28 via Skin Graft Records and Sweatband Records. To mark the announcement, the Los Angeles outfit has shared the lead single "Mucus" along with its official music video.
"Mucus" introduces the songwriting of new guitarists Michael Armendariz and Raz Azraai, whose contributions broaden the band's sonic palette while preserving its deliberately unstable identity. Explaining the track, frontman Baxter Yogurt said: "'Mucus' exists to keep unwanted things out... This song is about developing your own protective slime layer and trusting it when outside forces try to hijack your identity. Sometimes the healthiest thing you can do is reject the infection and remain your weird, disgusting self."
Following 2024's "Dreams Of Puke," "Throat Slave" collects five original songs, six remixes and an ominous spoken preface. Side A — featuring tracks such as "Leeches," "Rats" and "Tumors" — navigates paranoia, confrontation and self-examination beneath a thick layer of bodily imagery. "Every song is a battle between self-determination and surrender," Yogurt explained. "Don't become somebody else's 'Throat Slave.'"
Side B reworks that material into what the band calls "electronic hallucinations, industrial rituals, mutant dance music and psychedelic fever dreams," with remixes from artists including Plack Blague, Drumcorps, Fartbarf and ZENI GEVA's KK Null. The cover art comes from Bora Murmure.
Featuring members of GWAR, CANCER CHRIST and DUCK DUCK GOOSE, SQUID PISSER have built a reputation for abrasive, confrontational live shows, having shared stages with the likes of GWAR, DARK FUNERAL, MELT BANANA and KING PARROT. The band is currently on its "Internal Violence Tour 2026" and will launch the cross-country "Tumors Across America Tour" on August 19, followed by a trio of fall dates supporting THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN.
