Symphonic metal veterans KAMELOT have premiered a music video for "Ashen World," the lead single from their forthcoming album "Dark Asylum," due August 28 via Napalm Records.
The track features guest vocals from Ignacia Fernández, current titleholder of Miss World Chile 2025 and frontwoman of the band DECESSUS. "Dark Asylum" also boasts an extensive guest roster including Tobias Sammet of AVANTASIA, Lea-Sophie Fischer of ELUVEITIE, and Clémentine Delauney of VISIONS OF ATLANTIS, underlining KAMELOT's continued pull among the symphonic and power metal scenes' biggest names.
The 15-track album is built around a concept centered on RavenHill Asylum, a fictional Neo-Victorian institution that the band uses as a lens to explore the intersection of science, faith, and psychological unraveling. Founding guitarist Thomas Youngblood described the sound as a natural evolution: "It's classic KAMELOT at its core, while opening new doors into the world of Dark Asylum." Vocalist Tommy Karevik framed the record in more introspective terms, calling it "a deep dive into the topography of the human mind, exploring its valleys, peaks, and the void between."
"Dark Asylum" was produced by Sascha Paeth, with mixing and mastering duties handled by Jacob Hansen — both mainstays of the European power and symphonic metal production world. The album will be available in an unusually broad format spread, including gold, silver, black, white-label, splatter, and blood-filled vinyl variants, alongside CD digipak, cassette, and digital editions, signaling a major release push from Napalm Records.
KAMELOT has spent nearly three decades refining a sound that bridges power metal bombast with gothic and progressive influences, and "Dark Asylum" appears set to continue that tradition while leaning into a darker, more theatrical concept than recent outings. The "Ashen World" video's combination of cinematic visuals and Fernández's guest turn is likely to draw crossover attention beyond the band's existing fanbase.
With the single now in rotation and the album just under two months away, KAMELOT fans can expect additional details on tour plans and further single releases in the coming weeks as the band builds toward the August release of what looks to be one of the year's most ambitious symphonic metal statements.
