BAD WOLVES have opened a new chapter, unveiling vocalist Sara "Killboy" Skinner as their new singer with the release of "Paint It Red," a single and music video out now via Better Noise Music. The track is the band's first release of 2026 and serves as Skinner's fiery introduction as frontwoman.
Founding drummer John Boecklin made clear the band was not simply looking to fill a vacancy, but to find a voice that could push the group forward. "The first time I heard Sara sing, I knew she was different," he said. "She has an incredible voice, undeniable presence." With Skinner aboard, the 2026 lineup now reads: Sara "Killboy" Skinner on vocals, AJ Rebollo on guitar, Derek Bolman on bass and Boecklin on drums.
Musically, "Paint It Red" pairs heavy drums and polyrhythmic guitar work with Skinner's commanding delivery. Boecklin framed the song as an anthem of personal agency: "There comes a point when enough is enough. It's time to stop asking for permission and start making decisions for yourself." Skinner, for her part, described the track as being about renewal through destruction — "having the courage to burn away what's holding you back, and the strength to begin again."
The arrival of a new frontwoman marks the latest evolution for the California outfit, who have weathered several lineup changes over the course of their career while building a reputation as one of modern heavy music's most commercially potent acts. By framing "Paint It Red" as both a statement of intent and a clean-slate introduction, the band is signaling that Skinner's debut is meant to be a reset rather than a mere replacement.
"Paint It Red" is available now on all streaming platforms, with its accompanying video offering fans their first proper look at the reconfigured BAD WOLVES in action.
