JESSE LEACH Says KILLSWITCH ENGAGE Will 'Probably' Work On New Music In Early 2027; Two Unreleased Tracks Coming On 7-Inch

KILLSWITCH ENGAGE frontman JESSE LEACH has confirmed the band will "probably" begin work on their next studio album in early 2027, with the timeline depending on how the current touring cycle shakes out. "It's hard to write while we're touring, and we've got, like, three back-to-back tours," he acknowledged in a recent interview.

In the meantime, fans have a handful of unreleased gems to look forward to. During sessions for the 2025 album This Consequence, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE recorded fourteen songs — four of which didn't make the final cut. One was quietly released on a compilation benefiting an animal shelter. A second charity collaboration is currently in the works. The remaining two tracks are set to appear on a B-side seven-inch single in the coming weeks, giving dedicated fans a physical collectible alongside fresh material.

Leach also opened the door to future releases in EP form rather than full-length albums, citing the ability to "knock some stuff out" more efficiently and offer "collectible stuff" — exclusive vinyl variants, limited pressings, and similar artifacts that reward longtime fans. Given KILLSWITCH ENGAGE's strong vinyl following, the approach has obvious appeal.

The band's creative process remains collaborative and organic. Members each build demos independently — riffs, full songs, anything goes — and the material is refined through group jamming. Leach praised recent in-person sessions: "I love watching somebody come with a few riffs and then somebody else has a riff." The chemistry that distinguished This Consequence clearly remains intact.

KILLSWITCH ENGAGE released This Consequence last year to strong reviews, continuing the creative resurgence that began when Leach returned to replace Howard Jones in 2012. Their current North American co-headlining tour with MACHINE HEAD is generating strong turnout across the continent. Whatever the next chapter looks like — EP, full album, or something in between — KILLSWITCH ENGAGE show no signs of slowing down.
