TODOMAL Share Title-Track Video for 'Graveyards of Joy'; Album Out July 3 on Season of Mist

Spanish atmospheric doom metal duo TODOMAL have shared the video for "Graveyards of Joy," the title track and third advance single from their forthcoming third album of the same name, due July 3 on Season of Mist. Pre-orders are available now at orcd.co/todomalgraveyardsofjoy.

The song draws from the ghost towns and emptied provinces of TODOMAL's native Spain, conjuring a landscape of slow erasure — "no gods'll ever settle here, 'cos all they ever do is walk by." But the track doesn't stay there. As it unfolds, desolation gives way: new arrivals, signs of life re-emerging, something resembling hope taking shape in a finale as sweeping as the countryside it describes. It is the band at their most elegiac, meditating on depopulation, decay, and the gradual reclamation of abandoned places.

"Graveyards of Joy" closes a trilogy that began with "Ultracrepidarian" (2021) and continued with "A Greater Good" (2023) — the latter appearing on multiple year-end lists including Mondosonoro's Top 10 Albums of 2023 and selling through its initial pressing. The new album was written in solitude following personal tragedy, drawing on the landscapes and ghost towns of rural eastern Spain that the band describe as raw, honest, and untamed. It channels grief, anger, and hard-won hope through a sound rooted in the slow-burning weight of classic doom and dramatic rock.

Sonically, "Graveyards of Joy" is strikingly layered. Vast Hammond organ-driven passages give way to desolate folk; strings with a Morriconian openness sit alongside heavy, anchoring riffs. TODOMAL's reference points range from the orchestral sweep of Vangelis and the warmth of DEEP PURPLE to the dramatic sensibility of Tindersticks and Nick Cave, all without losing the solemnity that defines their work.

TODOMAL was formed in 2020 by Christopher B. Wildman and Javier Fernández Milla, two veteran multi-instrumentalists of the Spanish underground scene. The band has since expanded into a five-piece live ensemble and performed at festivals including Be Prog! My Friend, Under The Doom Fest, and Frantic Fest, sharing stages with CANDLEMASS, MY DYING BRIDE, and DØDHEIMSGARD.
