Guitar legend George Lynch has confirmed that LYNCH MOB is actively working on new studio material, offering the clearest window yet into the album's direction in a recent interview with Friday 13th Metal.

Lynch, known as one of hard rock's most distinctive guitarists through his work with DOKKEN and LYNCH MOB since the 1980s, said the creative process is well underway — with one completed song and a second in development. He is approaching the project with a deliberate patience.

"Right now I'm just searching for grooves and riffs," he said, framing the process as one of organic discovery rather than deadline-driven production. "I'm gonna take my time... making sure every song is great."

On the album's sonic character, Lynch was characteristically direct: expect something heavier. "Maybe a little more ALICE IN CHAINS style... more on the heavier side," he said, distancing the new record from the polished, radio-accessible approach of some of LYNCH MOB's earlier work. His priority, he made clear, is "great, nasty riffs and awesome grooves" — the classic Lynch formula.

The announcement comes as Lynch simultaneously marks the release of "The Final Ride," a live album documenting LYNCH MOB's recent farewell tour, which hit streaming platforms on May 29. The fact that a new studio album is already in motion suggests the "farewell" was more of a chapter end than a full stop — a familiar dynamic in the world of rock and metal, where few things are ever truly final.

Lynch's guitar work remains as identifiable and vital as ever, and the prospect of a heavier LYNCH MOB record built around proper riff architecture is genuinely exciting for fans of melodic hard rock and traditional metal alike.
