RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE guitarist Tom Morello has released "Adjourn It," a new single that brings together two of rock and metal's most politically outspoken voices alongside an emerging new one. The track features SYSTEM OF A DOWN vocalist Serj Tankian and Morello's 15-year-old son Roman Morello — a three-generation convergence of activism-driven heavy music.
The accompanying music video incorporates footage from "Salt of the Earth," the landmark 1954 independent film about Mexican-American zinc miners fighting labor exploitation and racism. Created by Hollywood executives who had been blacklisted during the McCarthy era, the film used real miners rather than professional actors and remains a touchstone of politically engaged American cinema. The video's use of this footage frames "Adjourn It" explicitly as a statement of solidarity — the message, as described, is about "reinforcing the importance of solidarity in bringing people together against fear and division."
For Morello, this kind of work is inseparable from the music itself. A Grammy winner and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, he has spent more than three decades as one of the most consistent voices in rock and metal for workers' rights, anti-fascism, and social justice. Tankian brings his own considerable weight to the collaboration — SYSTEM OF A DOWN remain one of the most politically engaged bands in heavy music, and his contributions to activist discourse have grown considerably beyond music into film and visual art.
Morello's 2026 touring schedule is extensive: European festival dates in June include Sweden Rock, Download, Graspop Metal Meeting, and Hellfest, followed by summer and fall North American dates culminating in the "Power To The People" festival on October 3 at Merriweather Post Pavilion.
