Season of Mist will reissue Khronos by ROTTING CHRIST on July 10, 2026. Originally released in 2000, the sixth album from the Greek legends marks the closing chapter of the band's Gothic period — a run that began in the mid-1990s — before they pivoted toward the mythology and cultural roots that define their later work.
Recorded during a Nordic winter at Abyss Studios in Sweden, Khronos carries an unmistakable chill. Keyboards recede beneath the guitars rather than dominate them, and the atmosphere leans toward shadow throughout. Tracks like "Thou Art Blind" and "Aeternatus" hit with a ferocity reminiscent of their uncompromising 1993 debut Thy Mighty Contract, while "My Sacred Path," "Art of Sin," and the title track retain the melodic intelligence of the band's late-90s records, threading dark wave undercurrents through slower, more insinuating structures. The eleven-minute closer "Glory of Sadness" yields to an industrial-inflected hidden passage — a signal that a door is closing. The reissue includes ROTTING CHRIST's cover of Current 93's "Lucifer Over London", a deliberate and restrained reading that divided opinion on release and has continued to do so.
The reissue is available on 12" Black Vinyl Gatefold and 12" Crystal Clear & Turquoise Marble Colored Vinyl Gatefold.
