Industrial metal veterans STATIC-X have announced the cancellation of all remaining 2026 tour dates, citing undisclosed but serious medical issues affecting one or more band members. The announcement was made via social media on May 18.
The band's statement read: "Due to serious medical issues, STATIC-X will be forced to cancel our remaining tour dates in 2026. The situation is unavoidable and requires immediate attention." The group pledged to "return to the stage, bigger, stronger and faster in 2027" and thanked fans for their continued patience and support.
STATIC-X currently perform with a masked vocalist known as Xer0 — widely believed to be DOPE frontman Edsel Dope — as a way of honoring the legacy of late founding vocalist Wayne Static, who passed away in 2014. The band chose not to permanently replace Static, instead keeping his memory alive through the mysterious persona.
Bassist Tony Campos had previously indicated the band was also deep in production of a documentary titled "Evil Disco: The Rise, Fall, and Regeneration of Static-X," commemorating the 25th anniversary of their debut album "Wisconsin Death Trip."
No specific details about the nature of the medical situation were disclosed. Fans who purchased tickets for affected shows are advised to contact their point of purchase for refund information.
