DEEP PURPLE have dropped the official music video for "Arrogant Boy," the lead single from their forthcoming studio album Splat!, due July 3 via earMUSIC.
The track arrives with serious production firepower behind it: Splat! was crafted alongside legendary producer Bob Ezrin, whose CV includes landmark records with KISS, PINK FLOYD, Lou Reed, and Alice Cooper. The result, according to Classic Rock Germany — who put the band on their cover — is "an electrifying song in the style of 'Space Truckin'' or 'Highway Star,'" one that "doesn't copy these classics; rather, it cleverly varies them."
Frontman Ian Gillan offered a colourful take on the song's subject matter: "Arrogant Boy is the story of Billy who couldn't read or write... He speaks up, and finds a way of irritating the elite. And I can't think of anything more fun than irritating the elite."
Conceptually, Splat! takes on a grand theme: the end of humanity imagined not as destruction but as a metamorphosis beyond physical existence. Gillan has described it as "the heaviest DEEP PURPLE album in many years" — a bold claim for a band in their seventh decade of existence.
The album will be available in CD digisleeve, standard black vinyl, limited purple vinyl, limited transparent yellow vinyl, and a deluxe box set featuring live 2024 tour recordings plus a bonus 7-inch single.
Supporting the release, DEEP PURPLE have committed to an enormous 86-show world tour across 28 countries on three continents throughout 2026.
