British hard rock veterans THE DARKNESS have released "Masters Of The Universe", the official theme song for the long-awaited live-action He-Man film of the same name, which premiered earlier this week at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. The track was written by frontman Justin Hawkins and guitarist Dan Hawkins, who also co-produced and mixed it alongside Daniel Pemberton, composer of the film's full soundtrack.

"When He-Man asked whether we could provide some music for his forthcoming biopic 'Masters Of The Universe', we dusted off our trusty loincloths, assembled in the courtyard of Castle Darkness and bellowed in unison WE HAVE THE POWER. Also, Brian May was there," the band quipped.

The soundtrack also features QUEEN guitarist Brian May on the track "Eternia", already available through Lakeshore Records. The complete soundtrack album arrives June 5, the same date as the film's U.S. theatrical release.

The movie — from Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel Studios, directed by Travis Knight — stars Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Adam/He-Man, Jared Leto as Skeletor, Camila Mendes as Teela, and Idris Elba as Man-At-Arms. International release follows through Sony Pictures.

Beyond the film, THE DARKNESS are having a massive year: they will support IRON MAIDEN at a sold-out Knebworth show in July, release best-of collection "Crock Of Hits" in October, and headline U.K. arenas in December — culminating in their debut headline show at The O2 in London on December 16.
