Interviews

LYCANTHROPY

And here comes another Ind's interview taken in 2001 for POETIC 'zine. LYCANTHROPY is not that famous yet can be called a promising band. Let's check out what they have got to tell us.

Ind: I begin with a standard question to introduce your band.

Jeff: The story is short. We are former classmates. We meet having some experience with different bands and finally felt that we suit each other perfectly. In half a year we were practicing in a garage and by summer 2001 it was decided to have something recorded. And we were quite satisfied with the result. We have also lost the bass player which affects our plans and desires.

Ind: Your band is called LYCANTHROPY and I was expecting to hear something different - close to SIX FEET UNDER of course. That was my personal expectation. In fact you are playing thrashy death metal, which is even jolly sometimes!

Jeff: In case if we were called SCHIZOPHRENIA would you be expecting early SEPULTURA style? (Why not! - Edit.) I named my band being unaware of SIX FEET UNDER track, so we have nothing in common.

Ind: Judging to track titles your deal with bloody topics…

Jeff: Have a look at our lyrics.

LYCANTHROPY

Ind: Are you going to release your debut? Sound quality is not that good.

Jeff: We don't think to release because it is short. In fact we have 7 more songs.

Ind: Do you play gigs?

Jeff: Not now. It is impossible without bass player and we cannot find a good one.

Ind: They say good death metal days are gone.

Jeff: We cannot play anything else. At least right now.

Ind: How would you treat such word-combination "Russian death metal band"?

Jeff: Nationality should not intersect music. Any band must be striving to play professionally and perfectly and can receive worldwide respect. Very often Russian bands are far from being professional and that's the reason they receive no recognition.

JeffInd: Do you have great expectation? Where are you striving?

Jeff: We are striving for quality. Our expectations are vague. As you see, we are morbid enough!

Ind: Do you enjoy taking part in tributes?

Jeff: It is our good habit

Ind: Do you have good relations with NECROPSY band?

Jeff: Yes, quite good. It is hard to be alone, you know.

Ind: Thanx a lot, wishing you to stay brutal of course.

Jeff: Thanx to all our supporters, our fans. Thanx for good reviews and merciless criticism.
